Billington PLC joins the Team of Steel!

We are delighted to welcome Billington PLC as a partner in the Team of Steel:

Billington PLC is one of the UK’s leading structural steelwork contractors who have established a reputation for quality with a number of high profile projects over the last 60 years. Billington Structures have confirmed they will sponsor and build the column the Yorkshire Man of Steel will sit on. Their impressive credentials will be invaluable to the team and we are  proud to announce their involvement as a key supporter of the project.

 

Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Round 1 development funding:

​Thanks to a successful  HLF (Round 1 ) bid we will soon receive £106,000 and recruit  3 additional experts to develop our bid to the 2nd Round. If successful, we will receive funding for an innovative Interpretation Hub which will include  an exhibition space, education facilities, a café and a shop. Temporary exhibitions will include collections from the National Coal Mining Museum in Wakefield and Clifton Park Museum in Rotherham.

Heritage, education and apprenticeships will form an important part of the Yorkshire Man of Steel’s future aims and the Interpretation Hub will play a vital role. In the meantime we will continue to visit schools and companies  to develop new education opportunities and forge links.

 

Man of Steel Cake!

Watch Rosie Cake-Diva, a celebrity cake maker, create a Man of Steel cake on C4’s new show, ‘Extreme Cake Makers’. The cake was later given to Rotherham Hospice and auctioned at their Charity Gala last year. C4 Followed Rosie and other specialist cake makers as they took on a number of commissions…
